Q: How exactly is my car transported?
A: Our transportation service is extremely simple. On the scheduled day for shipping your vehicle, it will be picked up at your door either directly by the car carrier truck, or an authorized transporter who will transport the vehicle to the car carrier truck, or you will drop it off at a predetermined location. In many instances, because of narrow streets, cul-de-sacs, steep inclines, low hanging overhead wires, trees, or local government regulations, the transporter truck will be unable to come directly to your home, so the vehicles to be transported must come to the truck. Once your vehicle is carefully loaded and secured in place on the truck, an experienced professional driver will transport it and several other vehicles to their destinations. Along the way, vehicles will be off-loaded at their respective destinations and new vehicles loaded. At your destination, your vehicle will be carefully off-loaded at your door, or for the reasons cited above at a mutually agreeable predetermined location. At that time we ask that you, or your designated representative, inspect the vehicle and accept delivery. Overall, it is simple, safe, and virtually effortless.
Q: What if I am not available to accept the delivery of my vehicle?
A: If you will be unavailable to accept delivery of your vehicle we ask that you make arrangements with a relative, friend, or neighbor to be available on the delivery date. Please notify A to Z as soon as possible with the name and contact telephone numbers of the person you have appointed. This person will need to work with the car carrier driver to schedule the actual drop off time and place and to inspect and sign for the acceptance of the vehicle. If it is impossible to make arrangements with another person to perform this function, the vehicle will be dropped off and stored in a secure terminal facility for your pickup there. A daily fee will be applicable for storage at the terminal facility so we do urge that every effort be made to arrange the vehicle delivery before that option becomes necessary.
Q: Do you guarantee delivery dates?
A: At A to Z we do our very best to deliver on the scheduled date. Our success is very admirable and we are able to deliver well over 99% of our vehicles on the scheduled date. However no auto shipping company, including A to Z, is able to totally guarantee a delivery date for several reasons. Each transporter truck is subject to possible delays caused by traffic conditions, weather conditions, roadway conditions, rare mechanical problems, and federal and state Department of Transportation regulations. Also, in rare instances last minute or enroute rerouting of the transporter trucks is necessary. Q: Is my vehicle covered by insurance while being transported?
A: YES. A to Z Auto Shipping has an exceptional record for safety and customer satisfaction. Nevertheless, while your vehicle is being transported rest assured that it is fully insured for its full book value.
Q: Can I pack things in the trunk of my car?
A: Federal and state Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit the transport of personal goods in vehicles being transported by auto carriers. Only items that vehicles normally come equipped with are allowed, such as spare tire and jack. Several common sense reasons also suggest why packing items in your vehicle is not a good idea. Personal goods may shift around (forcefully at times) in the trunk or interior of the transported vehicle and become damaged or damage the vehicle. It is also possible that the stored items may cause a weight problem with your vehicle and add unnecessary difficulties with loading and unloading, and possible undercarriage damage to your vehicle. A to Z and carrier truck drivers cannot assume responsibility for these items and they are not covered by the transporter's insurance.
